Effects on fertility

Severe vitamin E deficiencies may be linked to premature labour and/or miscarriage. It helps to regulate the menstrual flow by cutting back on excessive blood loss. It can have a positive effect on menstrual rhythm and helps to regulate ovulation.  In men, deficiencies may lead to degeneration of testicle tissue affecting sperm production and maturation.

Role in pregnancy

Promotes lung maturation. When child's E quotient is low haemorrhaging can occur and anemia.

Signs of depletion

Gastrointestinal distress, anemia, rupture of red blood cells.

Suggested intake

Men - upto 800iu daily
Women - upto 400iu daily in addition to the prenatal supplements until pregnancy is confirmed.

Natural source

Vegetables, poultry, fish, vegetable oils, nuts, seeds.
